A new evening adult Tennis Xpress Class for beginners - Mondays 6pm to 7pm at the Ponteland Community Primary School Courts
Tracy Smith (the PLTC Tennis coach) is starting a new Tennis Xpress for players who want to learn the basis of the sport.
Tennis Xpress uses modified equipment such slower bouncing green and orange balls to ensure that players can quickly learn the game, including serving, rallying and scoring, by the end of the course. It's a fun and sociable introduction to tennis within a friendly club environment. Places on the 13-week course starting on Monday 11 September 2023 are limited, so please get in touch with Tracy if you are interested.

9 February 2023 - Senior Team Results for the 2022 Season
Here are the results for last year's Senior Teams in the Dunlop Northumberland and Durham League - a mixture of promotions, remains and demotions. Well done to all teams and particularly the Men's Veterans 2 and the Mixed Veterans 1 for winning promotion. A big thank you to all captains for organising the matches and players. It was a really enjoyable season with some great, very close matches (we learnt that EVERY single game counts!) and wonderful after-match teas were back on the table....with some exquisite baking. Thanks also to all the teams who hosted us, it was great to explore new places and to play at some lovely, picturesque tennis clubs throughout Northumberland. We look forward to seeing you in the coming year.
If you are interested in joining any of the senior teams - there will be one to suit your level of play - please send us a message. They are fun and very sociable with some friendly competition.

Great result... Having won their group, the Northumberland Ladies County Vets over 75s team (including our highly talented Megs) made it to the finals of the Senior County Cup in Sheffield. In a close fought match they were narrowly beaten by Kent (by just one set!). Well done ladies - brilliant result. The team members were Angela Appleby, Mary Corbett, Helen French, Sandra Henderson, Monica Ogden, Megs Rogers and Pauline Storey. Spotlight on energy saving Please help the club to save on increasing energy costs by following the tips on the second Spotlight notice. You can find this in the club house. If everyone does their bit we can keep costs down as much as possible - which will be good for our membership fees! |

*Adult Club Play moved from Wednesday 14th September to Tuesday 13th September 2022*
Unfortunately, as a result of a mix up with the Northumberland And Durham League, a men's match is scheduled for Wednesday 14th September at the PLTC courts between 6pm and 10pm. Whilst we recognised that this is an inconvenience for some members we would like (as a one off) to move the usual club play session to Tuesday 13 September to allow this fixture to take place. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
*Padlock Code for Ponteland Primary School Court access changed*
Please note, the code for the padlock to access the school courts has changed and been sent out in a recent email to you.
Winter League
It's soon time to enter our teams into the winter league so please could you get in touch, or reply to the recent members' email you received, if you are interested in playing.
Matches are played on Sundays, generally in the morning, at two week intervals between October and February. Teams consist of four players two ladies and two men, and initially a group stage is played. At each match a ladies' and a gents' double is played followed by two mixed doubles matches. Following a group stage, the teams are regrouped and a knockout round is played.
Clubs select the 'tiers' they would like to play in - from Tier 1 the highest level to Tier 3. Last year the club entered the Tier 2 competition, which suited some players for not necessarily all. We would be keen to know your preference. If you have any queries about what Tier would suit you or you'd like further information, please get in touch. We can form a group of willing players and share matches or have a general pool of players to play more intermittently.
Players must be over 14 years of age and hold an active LTA Advantage Play, Advantage Play + or Advantage Corporate membership. This is free and can be acquired from the LTA.
Annual Club Championship - Completion Date Extended to 1 October 2022
The date to play any remaining matches in the Club Championship has been extended to Saturday 1 October 2022. Please try to complete all remaining matches by this date.

Successful return of the Ponteland Junior Open Tennis Tournament 2022 It was fantastic to welcome back the Ponteland Junior Tennis Open Tournament this year after being put on hold due to the pandemic. Ponteland Tennis Club welcomed players from as far afield as Scotland and Cumbria with plenty of players across all the age groups from Northumberland, Durham and the surrounding areas. The weather was kind and visiting players and their entourages enjoyed the friendly environment of the club whilst watching the high level of competitive tennis on display. Many congratulations to the winners and runners up and very well played to all who competed. And thanks once again to the sponsors - Gardens by Serendipity and Rialtos - their support was greatly appreciated. |
